Miami Art Basel 2011
Three years ago, I found out about Art Basel Miami, a huge art fair which begin in 2002 as a sister fair to Art Basel in Basel, Switzerland. I came about it through arrested motion and their coverage via their blog. If you are an art fan this event will blow your mind. Upon entering the main fair I was amazed by how much super cool art was all in one place. It is different when looking through catalogues and books, than it is to experience a large Jean Michel Basquiat, Elizabeth Murray and or Chris Martin Painting. These works are much greater in person.

Zeitgeist Films :: Bill Cunningham New York :: the Trailer
Zeitgeist Films :: Bill Cunningham New York :: the Trailer
Watched a great documentary on Bill Cunningham, "Photographer of Life". Bill Cunningham has captured fashion in real time as New Yorkers participate in their daily lives. I was amazed at how committed Bill was to being at multiple events in one night. He bounced around from event to event in the cold for the love of his work. At 80 years old he shows no slowing down.

My wife and I caught Art in the Streets at the MOCA in Los Angeles right before it closed. I saw Jeffrey Deitch and asked him for his signature. Thanks Mr. Deitch
Book Shelf
Bought this cool book at Double Break Store/Gallery in San Diego. Cool to read about Kembra Pfhaler and her work. Added plus cool essay by Kathy Grayson (The Hole NYC).

Inspiring Movie
A couple of really great family friends who really love art recommended this movie. I watched this movie and was so moved by the people, the art and the story. I am always amazed by the power of the human spirit, journey and humility people posess. If you have an opportunity this movie is available on Netflix. Check it out.

Great artist and podcast creator Mike Maxwell
I found this artist on the interweb via twitter. He has great art both visually and through a podcast series from his live free compound. I have listened to his most current Podcast with Kinsee Morlan, Arts writer for San Diego City Beat. That podcast was great. For me it has been great to listen to other creative people give their take on a wide range of topics. Highly recommended and inspiring.
